Icon View Progress
Posted on November 10, 2005
I just wanted to thank everybody for the help. Thanks to Charles Ezell I now
have a good jump start on getting the IconView where I want it. It's still
pretty crude but at least it's working again.
Next I get to rewrite all of the drawing logic for the current GTK+ based
IconView so that it will have all of the functionality of the old GnomeCanvas
based IconView that I originally wrote. The new one, of course, is going to
be many fold faster than the previous one. That's right, many fold. DROOL!
I'll try to keep this page up to date a little better now that things are
moving again. Thanks to everybody!

Continued Icon View Issues
Posted on October 28, 2005
Just thought I would jump on here and give a bit of an update. I am still
working on Velocity from time to time, but I'm kind of stuck.
To all you developers out there, this is a call for help. Here's the issue:
I can't seem to manage to get the GtkIconView moved outside of GTK+ and have
it actually work properly. I get it so that it compiles and actually seems
to work the first time around, but if you clear it and have a sorting function
setup it fails to sort properly. Even worse yet, when that happens the data
that the icon is representing doesn't match the icon itself. If anyone can
help get this working properly please email me.
I would love to get Velocity back on track. It's going to be difficult but
I am definitely up to the challenge. Thanks for all your help and support!

Lack of updates
Posted on June 2, 2005
I'm sure you've all noticed that there has been a severe lack of updates to
the website so here's a little bit about how things are going. I'm writing a
new icon viewing widget based on GtkIconView but it's taking a while. On top
of having little time to work on the issue I've also been running into all
kinds of absurdly odd issues with it. But you should all know that I am still
working on Velocity and do plan on making this file manager become a reality.
I'll be sure and let you know more once I figure things out a little bit.
